Staff Development Services (84-002.05A)
Notes:Additional Discussion:
Riverside would like to have Dallas Lewandowski lead an inservice on writing and an ALP refresher on Aug. 14th (9:00-12:00). Kelly Clapp will ask Dallas Lewandoski to fulfill this request.
Riverside would also like to have TOT training for their leaders on leading student goal setting training for their staff. The administrators will let us know what they have in mind and when they would like to have the training.
Riverside would like assistance with a curriculum selection process for ELA. Kelly Clapp will contact Susan Evans about this and ask her to call Sarah Nordhues concerning this request.
Riverside may need a great deal of support with Distance Learning if they are unable to fill staff vacancies next year. Hiring is becoming more and more difficult and they’re already close on hours for Rule 10. Administration will let us know.
Riverside would like further follow-up training for paras in their district. Specifically support with how to work with high needs SPED and high needs SEL. They would like this training/support at their school site. They will communicate when they would like this training/support.
What professional learning or support do your teachers need to implement the strategies selected to meet your school improvement goal(s)?
What dates and times have you designated for professional learning in 2020-21?
Early Out, Late Start, A specific day of the week, monthly, etc..
Riverside’s CIP goal is in the area of writing. The administrative team is still working on establishing dates for professional learning within the approved 2020-21 school calendar.
The administrative team will meet to discuss further plans for PD and let us know of their needs.
How will the principal or other school leaders support the learning and monitor for effectiveness?
How can we assist in your implementation efforts?
Ms. Kaczor and Mrs. Nordhues commented that they feel it is their responsibility to hold staff accountable and they don’t need assistance from ESU 10 in this area at this time.
We are trying to be more strategic in our services and helping you to be more strategic in the professional learning that supports your initiatives. For example, we have been in a school and provided the same MAP training 5 times, however the staff hasn’t made progress in the use of MAP data.
What student, educator, and system data will be collected to plan, assess and evaluate professional learning?
Building Principals collect walk-through data & monitor professional goal setting. Ms. Kaczor and Mrs. Nordhues reiterated they feel it is their responsibility to hold staff accountable and they don’t need assistance from ESU 10 in this area at this time.
Have you thought of anything that the T&L Department could help you with that we aren’t currently offering?
Ms. Kaczor requests that ESU 10 consider offering training for teachers that assists them in monitoring and curbing student misuse of technology. This is a critical area of need.
We offer several leadership opportunities. Do you feel these opportunities are helping you grow as a leader of learning in your district? If you’re not currently participating, why not?
Ms. Kaczor and Mrs. Nordhues commented that they find our leadership offerings valuable. Mrs. Nordhues stated she is disappointed that more administrators don’t attend so there are more practitioners to interact with and learn from. Ms. Kaczor would like Dr. Wheelock to bring up Principal professional learning at a Superintendent meeting so it can be discussed. Ms. Kaczor also commented on how difficult it is to participate in offerings during the day. Could some of the Zoom events be offered in the morning before school or in the evening?
Do you have any other questions for us?
