Notes:Additional discussion:
Central Valley Principals expressed an interest in conducting curriculum alignment work during the summer of 2020. Mrs. Shafer and Mr. Beck will be working with Mrs. Malander to determine what funds are available to do the work and poll the teachers as to the timing of the dates established. Content areas mentioned: 7-12 Science, Middle School ELA, Lower Elementary Reading, and Math.
Also, the Central Valley administrative team indicated they would like assistance in a Math Series selection process. Mr. Beck will let us know when he is ready to schedule this.
What professional learning or support do your teachers need to implement the strategies selected to meet your school improvement goal(s)?
What dates and times have you designated for professional learning in 2020-21?
Early Out, Late Start, A specific day of the week, monthly, etc..
Central Valley would like to continue receiving CIP support and training during their monthly early-out days. They will be holding these the first Wednesday every month, however the school calendar has not been finalized yet. Kelly will reserve the first Wednesday for Central Valley. As soon as they have the calendar finalized (maybe April) Kelly will meet with Mr. Beck and Mrs. Shafer to develop the 2020-21 professional learning plan.
How will the principal or other school leaders support the learning and monitor for effectiveness?
How can we assist in your implementation efforts?
Central Valley would like to develop a PLC structure with our assistance. Feasibility and logistics will be discussed when they meet with Kelly to develop the 2020-21 professional learning plan.
Central Valley would like to continue learning walks with our assistance.
We are trying to be more strategic in our services and helping you to be more strategic in the professional learning that supports your initiatives. For example, we have been in a school and provided the same MAP training 5 times, however the staff hasn’t made progress in the use of MAP data.
What student, educator, and system data will be collected to plan, assess and evaluate professional learning?
Central Valley conducts classroom walk-throughs and formal evaluations. They have established expectations and collect anecdotal data, however, they are not tracking aggregated data. Mr. Beck said he would like to engage staff in an end-of-year reflection by asking teachers to reflect on their professional learning this year.
Have you thought of anything that the T&L Department could help you with that we aren’t currently offering?
No.
We offer several leadership opportunities. Do you feel these opportunities are helping you grow as a leader of learning in your district? If you’re not currently participating, why not?
Yes, both Mr. Beck and Mrs. Shafer feel like they get a lot out of the leadership offerings and attend as often as they can.
Do you have any other questions for us?
No.
