Support schools with the technology related to ADVISER
Authoritative DNS Management
Authoritative DNS manages the DNS records (A, CNAME, PRT, MX, etc.) for school district domains. DVLG provides assistance with domain purchasing and record management.
Two iperf servers used to measure network throughput from districts to Lincoln and Milford. Periodic tests are run to proactively look for schools that are not receiving the bandwidth they are contracted for. We also have a server registered with speedtest.net to allow schools to test bandwidth from a browser.
The classifieds website is a location that schools from ESUs 4, 5, and 6 can post unused items for sale to other schools.

ESU4 will provided contracted technology services for a daily fee.
Digital Citizenship & Internet Safety
Digital Citizenship & Internet Safety Trainings for Students & Teachers at School Sites
A product used to implement proper dmarc, dkim and spf records to protect school domains from being spoofed. Allows the district to control who sends email on their behalf.
DNS Management and Caching
Consortium assists school districts with authoritative DNS management also DNS Cacheing
Email Relay Service
ESU4 provides access to two email servers to provide an email relay service to school districts. The email relay service allows schools to send high quantities of email for things such as PowerSchool, copiers, HVAC equipment, etc. Google limits email to 2,000 messages per day per district. Our email relay allows up to 10,000 messages per day per district.
ESU4 will provide assistance at the firewall to ensure district firewalls are full patched, proper implementation of firewall and port forwarding rules, assistance with public IP assignment, routing, backup internet connection configuration, DHCP relay, SNMP configuration, VLAN configuration, and user management at the firewall. All content filtering configurations are the responsibility of the district. ESU4 will assist with content filtering configuration and troubleshooting for an hourly fee.

FTP backup allows schools to encrypt and backup critical school data such as administration files, accounting data, and PowerSchool backups to an offsite server.

Kayako Ticket System
Kayako is a help desk solution that allows schools to funnel all support requests to a central location so that issues can be tracked to resolution. The ticket system features submission of tickets via email or live chat, a full featured public and internal knowledgebase, news, and time tracking.
LAN Manager Meetings
ESU4 hosts Monthly Technology cadre Meetings to disseminate best practices between districts, communicate technology updates, issues, and receive feedback from districts on what services are needed.
ESU4 supports a central repository of machine and system log data to enable quicker resolution of technical issues.
NTP (Time Services)
A network time server is maintained for services requiring a NTP server.
PRTG Network Monitor
PRTG is a network monitoring solution allows school personnel to monitor all network equipment from a web browser or remotely through a phone app. This software monitors all devices and services on the network and alerts key personnel of issues that need attention on the network.
Realtime Blacklist Monitoring
Monitors public IPs assigned to each district for any real-time blacklists (RBLs). If any school has a public IP end up on an RBL list ESU4 staff will work with the district to clean up any infected machines that may have caused the RBL entry and will then work to remove the school’s public IP from each RBL.
ScreenConnect is a remote desktop software applicationthat allows support personnel remote viewing and control of devices from anywhere with an Internet connection.
Enables school districts to utilize either Google or Active Directory to authenticate to a central portal to access applications such as ADVISER, the Nebraska Cloud, Kayako, PRTG, ScreenConnect, Moodle, Zoom, Adobe, TestWiz, etc.
ESU4 utilizes a status page to communicate scheduled maintenance windows and to notify districts when services are down or experiencing issues. Districts can register for an account and select what services they would like to receive notifications on.

Ubiquiti Network Management System
Ubiquiti Network Management System (UNMS) is a free service hosted by ESU4 which allows districts to easily configure, monitor, upgrade, and backup Ubiquiti equipment.
Supports schools with video conferencing with Lifesize equipment and assisting with Zoom accounts, setup and training.
Consortium monitors all public IPs for security issues and works with school districts to remedy the issues
ESU4 assists with technical issues between UPN and the school districts to help resolve outages and troubleshoot WAN related issues.
Assessment and Evaluation of Services and Low Vision Clinic
Educational Assessments are provided for students who are blind or visually impaired. The assessment outreach team also coordinates with other professional and related service evaluators to provide educational recommendations. Annual low vision clinics are also held on campus for students statewide and provides educational and medical evaluations.
Supporting students, teachers and district staff in meeting the educational and technology needs of students with mild to severe hearing loss.

Center-Based Programs w/ Residential Services
Students statewide have the option of attending the Nebraska Center for the Education of Children Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired for specialized services based upon the student’s educational needs as indicated by the individual education plan. Full or part-time educational placement for varying durations is available. Residential services may be provided in addition to the center-based educational program. Residential services may include independent living skill training, social skill training, community participation, and recreation and leisure activities
Consultation and Mentoring Services
NCECBVI provides consultation, advisory, and technical assistance for students, families, school districts and Educational Service Units statewide. These services include: Mentoring Program, Transition Consultation, Outreach Direct Services, Classroom observation and consultation.

Crisis Prevention & Intervention Training to support de-escalation and appropriate restraint practices
Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher
Provision of supports and services, including technology and self-advocacy, for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

VI Professional Development and Training
NCECBVI provides and coordinates staff development opportunities statewide for educators, related service providers, support staff, parents, and agency personnel. In addition, NCECBVI partners with UNL in training teachers and staff.
DVLG Fiscal Agent
ESU 4 is the fiscal agent for DVLG. The Digital Virtual Learning Group (DVLG) is a united collaboration of educational entities to ensure secure, efficient, and innovative technologies that enhance learning in the 21st century. This includes: A high-quality Internet connection, Secure network infrastructure, Virtual classroom experiences, Collective buying power, E-rate services and other equitable services as defined by the group.
ESU Advisory meetings
ESU 4 area superintendents meet per Rule 84 to make recommendations for necessary programs/services and to provide opportunity for superintendents to network and discuss educational issues of common concern.
ESU COOP program
ESU 4 works collaboratively with other school districts and ESU's to provide compliant, competitive, aggregated bidding and purchasing to control and reduce costs to it’s members by maximizing efficiency of resources and processes in Nebraska and Nationally.
